Best Medicine Interview Courses UK (2027 Entry): An Honest Comparison

Every autumn, parents and students ask me the same question: which is the best medicine interview course to book? This page is my honest answer for 2027 entry. It is a fair question, because the market for medical school interview courses is crowded, the prices are all over the place, and some providers make you go all the way to checkout before they will even show you a number.

I am an NHS GP and I have been preparing students for medical school interviews for over fourteen years. I also run one of the courses on this page, so I have an obvious interest, and pretending otherwise would insult your intelligence. I have tried to handle that the only honest way I know: by comparing what each provider actually publishes on its own website, saying so when a figure is hidden or unverified, and telling you plainly where a competitor is the better choice for your situation.

The quick verdict

• Best overall: TheUKCATPeople (£179). It is the only course in this comparison taught start to finish by its founder, a practising NHS GP, and the only one whose included extras are worth more than the fee: 14 days of our 500+ question Ultimate Q&A Guide, which sells at £349 on its own. It is our course, so weigh this recommendation accordingly.
• Best if you want in person teaching: The Medic Portal (£195, London) or Medic Mind’s London dates. We do not offer an in person option.
• Best budget route: Medic Mind’s videos plus live day bundle at £129, capped at 15 students per class.
• Best for timed MMI circuit practice: Medic Mind’s 20 station circuit (perform 10, observe 10), or The Medic Portal’s circuit at £130 online.
• Best book: ISC Medical’s Medical School Interviews by Picard and Lee, around £25 to £40 new. Their course itself is currently unavailable (more on that below).
• Best for veterinary applicants: Medic Mind, the only major provider running a vet interview course.
• Best for one to one tutoring and mock interviews: TheUKCATPeople. Every session is 1-1 with an interview expert matched to your universities, mocks are a full 60 minutes with live scoring and written feedback, and every tier includes the £349 question guide free.
• If you are considering a season long programme: Med School Entry (£996, early bird £697.20) is doctor led but group taught every Sunday for three months; MyUCAT (£500 to £1,100 for 2026 entry; 2027 dates not yet published) was built on large group sessions, and its £500 base package included no one to one at all. We would price the same ground first: £304 with us buys the full course day plus a 60 minute 1-1 mock, and £928 buys the day plus ten hours of one to one tutoring with the £349 guide included.
• Longest running of the active providers: TheUKCATPeople, helping applicants since 2012. The Medic Portal was founded by doctors in 2015 (the company was incorporated in 2014) and Medic Mind launched in 2017. ISC Medical is the oldest company here, established in 2004, but it has always been mainly a postgraduate interview trainer and withdrew its medical school line in July 2026.

How I compared them

I compared five things: the published price and what it actually includes; who teaches the course and their stated credentials; the format (length, group size, online or in person); how long the provider has actually been preparing applicants (taken from Companies House records and the providers’ own claims, not marketing vagueness); and how transparent each provider is about prices and claims. Every figure was taken from the provider’s own public pages on 26 and 27 July 2026, so this review records exactly what was on sale for the 2026/27 season (2027 entry) on those dates. Where a price only appears at checkout, or a claim could not be verified on a live page, I say so rather than guessing.

One honest limitation: I have not sat my competitors’ courses. This is a comparison of what each provider offers, publishes and charges, not a mystery shop review of their teaching quality.

Medicine interview courses compared for 2027 entry

Two notes on that table. Medic Mind publishes clear prices on its crash course page (videos only £69; videos plus live day £129; adding the MMI circuit £169; adding 6 hours of tutoring £399) but hides the price on the live day page itself, and on its dentistry and vet course pages, until checkout. The Medic Portal’s 2026/27 interview course dates had not been published when I checked; last cycle they ran weekly Saturdays through the interview season, so I expect dates to appear by early autumn.

What the course fee actually buys

Course prices in this market sit in a narrow band, so the real differences are in what comes bundled with the fee. This is worth lining up explicitly:

Every provider bundles something, but ours is the only course where the bundled asset is worth more than the ticket: the £179 fee includes 14 days of a guide that sells at £349 by itself, so the course day is effectively the cheaper half of the package. The Medic Portal bundles a mock interview instead; whether one mock outweighs 14 days of a 500+ question bank with doctor written model answers is your call.

TheUKCATPeople Medicine Interview Course (£179)

Ours first, since you will rightly want to know what I am selling. I founded TheUKCATPeople in 2012, which makes us the longest running provider in this comparison that is still selling a medicine interview course. The course is one full day, live on Zoom, on a Sunday (25 October, 15 November or 13 December 2026), 9am to 4pm. I teach the whole day myself: interview frameworks, motivation and work experience questions, MMI technique, ethics, and a dedicated medicine hot topics hour at the end of the day. The £179 fee includes 14 days of access to our Ultimate Medicine Interview Q&A Guide, which is 500+ questions with full model answers written by doctors and normally sells at £349, plus digital course notes.

Two things are structurally different about us. First, you know exactly who is teaching before you book: I founded TheUKCATPeople in 2012, I am a practising NHS GP, and I teach every course day myself rather than handing it to a rotating, unnamed team. Second, everything we sell beyond the course day is one to one. Our tutoring and mocks are never group classes, circuits or webinars: every session is 1-1 with an interview expert matched to your universities, and every mock comes back with written feedback.

The day is built around live practice rather than slides. Volunteers attempt real stations and I upgrade their answers in front of the room, so you hear the difference between a weak answer and a strong one. Guide access opens on the morning of the course, which is the fortnight most people are actually practising.

Why students and parents pick us:

• Last year, 98% of our students who completed 20 or more hours of interview tutoring and sat at least one interview received an offer, 100 of 102: that is our one to one tutoring programme, not this course day.
• Fourteen years and 2700+ students taught since 2012, with a Trustpilot rating of 5.0 from 640+ reviews across our tutoring and courses. We built our name in UCAT tutoring, and our interview coaching runs on the same one to one model.
• A named, practising NHS GP teaches the course and quality assures the tutoring; you know exactly who you are paying for before you book.
• Every interview expert holds an enhanced DBS check and is briefed on our safeguarding policy.
• The £349, 500+ question Ultimate Q&A Guide is included with the course (14 days of access) and free with every tutoring tier.
• PayPal Pay in 3 is available on the 10 and 20 hour tutoring tiers, so £749 can be paid as three interest free instalments of £249.67.

If you want to do well in your interview, these are the people to go to. I’ve been on Kaplan courses and Medic Portal ones, but none of them are like this. They give you the structure and technique required to succeed.

Where we fall short, so you can judge fairly:

• We are online only. If you want to practise in a physical room, The Medic Portal and Medic Mind both run London dates and we simply do not (it is also part of why our full day costs £179 rather than the £195 to £249 that in person days cost elsewhere).
• Places are non refundable, so you should only book a date you can definitely attend.
• The course day itself is new for 2026/27, so there are no course day specific reviews yet; our Trustpilot reviews cover fourteen years of our wider interview tutoring and services.
• We fold MMI technique and practice into the day rather than selling a separate timed circuit. If you specifically want repeated 20 station circuit practice, Medic Mind and The Medic Portal serve that better.

Review verdict: the strongest overall package in this comparison. A full day taught personally by a named, practising NHS doctor, the 500+ question guide (worth £349 alone) included, from the longest running active provider, at the standard market price. Last year, 98% of our students who completed 20 or more hours of interview tutoring and sat at least one interview received an offer, 100 of 102, a figure for our tutoring programme rather than for course attendance. There is a parallel dentistry interview course with its own dentistry hot topics hour.

The Medic Portal Interview Course (£170 to £195)

The Medic Portal is the biggest brand in this market: founded by doctors in 2015 and now part of the Dukes Education group. The one day course (£170 online, £195 in person in London) runs roughly 10am to 5.30pm, is taught by doctors, and comes with a 100,000 word workbook. It includes a mock interview with personalised feedback in the course price, though the page does not specify the mock’s length or format. They quote a headline figure of 94% of respondents to their 2025/26 customer survey receiving at least one offer; treat it as a customer survey rather than an audited outcome for every attendee. Their reviews sit on Feefo rather than Trustpilot.

The weaker points:

• When I checked in late July 2026, no 2026/27 interview course dates were published yet, and their dates page only listed a UCAT venue. That may well have changed since, so check their dates page before you plan around it.
• Group size is not stated anywhere on the course page.
• The question bank and season long e-learning are sold separately (their self paced online interview course runs £100 to £195, and that page still showed stale "until April 2026" access wording when I checked).
• It is the most expensive in person option here at £195, before any add ons.

Review verdict: the pick if you specifically want to be in a physical room in London. For an online day, £170 with The Medic Portal buys the workbook and a mock; £9 more with us buys a full day taught by a named NHS GP with a £349 question guide included.

Medic Mind Interview Live Day (£129 bundle)

Medic Mind, launched in 2017 by two UCL medical students, is the budget option if you know exactly what you are buying. The clearest deal is on their crash course page: £69 for their interview video course alone, £129 to add the live teaching day (Saturdays, online or London, maximum 15 students), £169 to add their 20 station MMI circuit, and £399 to add 6 hours of one to one tutoring. Their date run is the longest here, Saturdays from 3 October 2026 right through to 27 February 2027, and they are the only major provider with dentistry and veterinary versions of the course. Their Trustpilot score is 4.7 from roughly 2,000 reviews.

The weaker points:

• Price transparency. The live day page, the MMI circuit page and the dentistry and vet course pages all hide their prices until checkout. One to one tutoring is listed only as "from £30 per hour" with no published bundle prices.
• The course pages do not clearly state who teaches the live day. The MMI circuit is described as led by doctors and MMI tutors, but tutor credentials are not broken down anywhere I could find.
• Their success rate claims vary between pages (92%, 93%, 93.4% on different pages when I checked), which makes them hard to pin down.

Review verdict: the budget route if £129 is a hard ceiling, and the only course option for vet applicants. Whichever date you pick, ask who is teaching it before you book, because the course page does not say.

ISC Medical: course withdrawn in July 2026

This is the news item in this comparison. ISC Medical (Interview Skills Consulting, established 2004) is a long established interview company, but its core business has always been postgraduate: consultant, registrar and GP interviews for qualified doctors, where it runs courses almost daily. The medical school course was a small seasonal sideline, £175 for a one day Zoom course capped at 16 participants and taught by practising NHS doctors, with free unlimited email support afterwards.

Between 6 and 26 July 2026, every medical school product page on their website was taken down: the course, the one to one coaching (£249 per 90 minute session) and the book listings now all redirect to their homepage, and their site navigation no longer has a medical school category at all. I cannot tell you whether this is a permanent exit or a between seasons restructure, but as of today there is nothing for a medical school applicant to book, and no 2026/27 dates exist.

What survives is the book: Medical School Interviews by Olivier Picard and George Lee, still the best known interview book in this field, at around £25 to £40 new from Amazon and other booksellers. Be aware the current edition is the 2nd, published in 2016. The frameworks hold up well, but it predates several shifts in how universities now interview, including the move to online formats, so pair it with current, free hot topics material rather than relying on it alone.

Review verdict: buy the book if you want low cost grounding; there is no course to book. For a live one day course taught by a practising doctor, which is what ISC sold, our course is the closest currently bookable equivalent.

Med School Entry and MyUCAT: the season long programme model

Two more names come up constantly, and they sell something structurally different: not a course day but a whole season of scheduled group teaching. They deserve a fair look, because for the right student they work, but you should understand exactly what the money buys before committing three months of Sundays.

Med School Entry (formerly branded MBBS Admissions) is taught by Dr Rizvia Khan, a GP and former medical school interviewer. The things to weigh are price and format: £996 at full price is more than five times our course fee, the teaching is group throughout with no published group size, sessions run every Sunday for three months whether or not that suits your interview dates, and places are non refundable once started. Their published claims (a 98.5% interview to offer conversion rate, 87% into Oxbridge, 15,000+ students over 10 years) are their own figures; their Trustpilot score is around 4.8 from roughly 220 reviews.

MyUCAT runs a popular programme with an eye catching guarantee: at least one offer or your money back. Read the conditions before you rely on it: eligibility requires attending or watching every session and staying engaged with the programme until December. The structural point that matters more is the teaching ratio. As sold for 2026 entry (the most recent programme published when I checked; the 2027 entry version was not yet up and the 2026 one was marked sold out), the programme was built on 27 large group knowledge sessions of about 90 minutes; the £500 base package contained no one to one work at all, the £650 tier added two 1 hour mocks, and genuinely individual teaching only arrived at the £1,100 tier. Sessions were led by the founder, a high scoring Oxford medic, with mock demonstrations by medical student volunteers; individual mentor credentials were not published. When they say over 99% of attending students converted an interview in the 2024/25 cycle, that is their own published figure.

Our view, plainly and with our bias declared: if you are weighing one of these programmes, price the same ground with us first. £304 buys our full taught day plus a 60 minute one to one mock; £928 buys the day plus ten hours of one to one tutoring timed around your actual invites, with the £349 guide included. Every one of those hours is yours alone, with a practising NHS GP teaching the day and an interview expert matched to your universities for the 1-1 work. And one concession with no sales pitch attached: some students genuinely thrive on a fixed weekly routine with one consistent teacher, and if that describes your child, Med School Entry is the better structural fit than anything we sell. For everyone else, teaching aimed at your universities, on your timetable, one to one, is the better instrument.

Other interview courses worth knowing

Four more providers came up repeatedly in my research (figures from my checks in mid July 2026):

• MedicHut: a two day format (day one doctor led seminars, day two an 8 station MMI circuit) at £159 online or £249 in person across four cities, capped at 25, with a dentistry version.
• BlackStone Tutors: a half day 20 station MMI course at £130, which bundles 3 months of access to their 500+ station question bank.
• theMSAG: a season long cohort course at £270 (October to January) plus a £140 virtual MMI circuit with written mark schemes.
• 6med: previously owned the affordable slot with a £129 crash course, but its live interview offering now starts at £995+ programme level. There is no current budget day course there.

One to one interview tutoring compared

A course teaches technique to a group; it cannot rehearse you for the specific format of the specific universities that invite you. That is what one to one tutoring and mock interviews are for, and the pricing models differ sharply:

Three details worth pulling out of that table. Our mocks are a full 60 minutes with live scoring and written feedback, where The Medic Portal’s standard mock is 30 minutes. Every tutoring tier we sell includes the £349 Q&A Guide free. And we sell nothing in a group format beyond the course day itself: no circuits, no webinars, no shared sessions, which matters because interview practice only really works when you are the one answering.

A note on who actually teaches, because this market is muddy about it and we treat our answer as a strength, not a small print admission. Our 1-1 sessions are delivered by interview experts who are current medical and dental students and recent successful applicants: people who sat MMIs and panels in today’s formats, excelled at them, and were then handpicked, DBS checked and trained by me. For an interview process that changes every cycle, someone who recently succeeded at the exact stations you will face, working to a GP designed programme, is a genuinely powerful combination. Elsewhere the picture is less clearly stated: The Medic Portal uses medical student tutors unless you pay its doctor rate of roughly £123 per hour, and Medic Mind does not break down its tutors’ credentials at all. Whoever you choose, ask exactly who will be coaching you before you pay.

Course, tutoring or a book: how to choose

• Start free. Work through our free 360 MMI questions guide, the MMI preparation guide and the NHS hot topics guide. Free resources now cover most of what books covered a decade ago.
• Add a book if you like paper. The ISC book at £25 to £40 remains good grounding, with the 2016 caveat above.
• Book a course day for frameworks and confidence. One day, £129 to £195, best taken in October or November before invites land, so the technique is in place early.
• Add an MMI circuit if your universities use MMIs and you want timed station practice under pressure (£80 to £175 across the market).
• Spend on one to one only once invites arrive. University specific mock practice and 1-1 tutoring is the highest value spend in the whole process, and it is far more effective once you know exactly which universities and formats you are preparing for.

Questions to ask any provider before you pay (including us)

This is the checklist I would want a parent to have in front of them. A good provider answers every one of these on its own website, before anyone asks you for a card. Put them to every company you are considering, this one included, and treat a vague answer as an answer in itself. You are not being difficult by asking. You are spending several hundred pounds on preparation for something your child gets one attempt at.

• Who exactly will be teaching, and can you see their name before you book? A named person can be checked. A course sold on the credentials of a founder who does not teach it, or on an unnamed team described only as experienced doctors, tells you nothing about who will actually be running the day your child attends.
• Is the full price visible before checkout? A price that only appears once you are in the basket is a choice, not a technical limitation. You should be able to compare what two providers charge without handing either of them your email address first.
• Is the mock interview one to one, and how many minutes is it? Mock length runs from thirty minutes to a full hour across this market, and some sessions billed as mocks are group demonstrations your child watches rather than sits. Ask for the number of minutes, whether your child is the only candidate in the room, and whether the feedback arrives in writing.
• Is there a cap on group size, and what is the number? This decides how much of the day your child spends speaking rather than watching. Published caps in this market sit around fifteen to sixteen, and several providers do not publish one at all. If a company will not give you a number, plan for a large room.
• Are the tutors DBS checked, and is there a published safeguarding policy? Your child may end up in a one to one video call with an adult they have never met. Any provider should be able to answer this in a single sentence, and it stays a fair question even when the tutor is only a few years older than the student.
• What is the refund policy, and where is it written down? Interview invitations land at unpredictable times and plans change. Establish before you pay whether a booking can be moved or refunded, because a policy you discover afterwards is not a policy you agreed to.
• Is the material written for this cycle? Interview formats shift from year to year. Ask when the question bank and the hot topics content were last updated, and be careful with a resource whose most recent example is several seasons old.

Applied to us, and starting where we come off worst: our course places are non refundable, so only book a date you are confident your child can attend. On the rest, I teach every course day myself and my name is against the date before you book; our 1-1 sessions are delivered by interview experts who hold an enhanced DBS check, are briefed on our safeguarding policy and are trained by me; every price is published (£179 for the course day, £125 for a mock, £749 to £2,149 for tutoring); our mocks run 60 minutes, one to one, with written feedback afterwards; and the Q&A guide is updated through the interview season. On group size, the course day is the only thing we sell that is taught in a group at all, and we do not currently publish a cap on it, which is the same gap I have pointed out in other providers above.

When should you book?

UCAT sittings finish in late September and the UCAS deadline for medicine is mid October, which is exactly when course demand spikes. Interview invites start arriving from late October and run through to March, with the bulk of interviews in December and January. The sensible sequence is: book a course day for late October or November, so you learn technique before your first invite; keep December and January for university specific mocks and any one to one work. The published date runs back this up: our three dates run 25 October to 13 December, Medic Mind runs 3 October to 27 February, and The Medic Portal’s dates were still to be announced when I checked in July 2026.

Whatever you choose, choose deliberately. A course is one day of your preparation; the daily work of practising questions out loud, reading around the NHS and rehearsing your own story is what actually gets people offers.
