Why us

Practice is the point, and that is why it is one-to-one

You cannot learn to perform under pressure by watching a webinar. Group courses hand you content, but they cannot put you in the chair, ask the hard follow-up and show you exactly where your answer wobbled.

The one thing that moves your score is doing it out loud, again and again, with someone marking you. That is all we do, and we have done it for 14+ years.

  • One-to-one, never a group. Every minute is your practice and your feedback, not shared with a room of applicants on a webinar.
  • Practice, not lectures. We teach the frameworks quickly, then spend the time on live mocks, drilling your answers under pressure until they hold.
  • Built for international applicants. We ground overseas applicants in the UK system, its values and the current topics interviewers expect you to know.

What you'll face

Every pharmacy interview station, covered

We prepare you for every format UK pharmacy schools use: the multiple mini interview (MMI), traditional panels and recorded video interviews, whether yours runs online or in person. Most MPharm interviews mix motivation, ethics, communication role-play and a numeracy or calculation station, all covered in focused one-to-one mocks targeted at your chosen universities, whether you are interviewing at UCL, King's, Nottingham, Manchester, Bath, Keele, UCLan or Queen's Belfast. All our tutoring is online.

Why pharmacy, not medicine

The question that catches most candidates out. We build an honest, specific answer rooted in what you saw on work experience and understand about the modern pharmacist's role.

Numeracy & drug calculations

Doses, dilutions, concentrations and unit conversions under time pressure. We drill the method so you work accurately and calmly, and explain your reasoning out loud.

Patient counselling role-play

Explaining a new medicine or handling an over-the-counter request with an actor. Marked on clarity, empathy and safe advice, not a perfect script.

Ethics & the GPhC standards

Consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and spotting a prescription error, applied through the GPhC standards under realistic pressure.

NHS & pharmacy hot topics

Pharmacy First, independent prescribing, antimicrobial resistance and medicines shortages, argued even-handedly.

Panel & follow-up

Deeper questioning on your personal statement, teamwork and your understanding of a pharmacist's day-to-day role.

Practice questions

Pharmacy interview questions we practise

A sample of what we practise in mocks, with how strong candidates approach each. These are the exact themes UK pharmacy schools return to, and there is very little good pharmacy-specific preparation online, so use this as your starting point.

Motivation & insight

  • Why pharmacy, and not medicine or nursing?

Show a genuine draw to medicines expertise, patient counselling and accessibility, with evidence from work experience, rather than criticising the other professions.

  • What does a pharmacist actually do beyond dispensing?

Talk about clinical checks, prescribing, public health, medicines optimisation and being the most accessible healthcare professional on the high street.

  • What did you learn from your pharmacy work experience?

Reflect on communication, patient safety and teamwork you observed, not the tasks you did; insight beats a shadowing diary.

Ethics & the GPhC standards

  • A customer wants to buy more codeine-based painkillers than is safe. What do you do?

Balance the patient's autonomy against your duty of care and misuse risk; explore why, offer safe alternatives and advice, and know when to refuse.

  • You spot an error on a prescription. How do you handle it?

Prioritise patient safety, describe checking, escalating and contacting the prescriber, and never dispensing something you believe is unsafe.

  • You see a colleague make a dispensing mistake. What do you do?

Act on patient safety first, raise it professionally and supportively, and show you understand a no-blame culture and duty of candour.

Numeracy & communication

  • Calculate the correct dose for this patient (calculation station).

Work methodically, show your units and check your answer; pharmacy demands 100% accuracy, so narrate your steps and sense-check the result.

  • Counsel this patient starting a new inhaler.

Use plain language, check understanding with teach-back, cover how and when to use it and side effects, and invite questions.

  • Explain to a patient why they do not need antibiotics for a cold.

Show empathy, explain viral versus bacterial simply, mention antimicrobial resistance, and offer symptom relief so the patient still feels helped.

What you need to know

The modern pharmacist's role, and the topics interviewers probe

Strong candidates show they understand the profession they are joining and the issues shaping it. We keep your preparation current with the clinical and policy topics UK pharmacy interviewers expect you to speak about with confidence.

  • The pharmacist's expanding clinical role, including independent prescribing for newly qualified pharmacists
  • Pharmacy First and pharmacists managing common conditions in the community
  • Patient safety and why calculation accuracy is treated as non-negotiable
  • Consent, confidentiality and safeguarding under the GPhC standards
  • Antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic stewardship
  • Medicines shortages and the pressures on community pharmacy
  • Public health work: vaccination, smoking cessation and healthy living advice
  • Working within the wider primary care and NHS team

FAQs

Pharmacy interview tutoring: your questions

How much does pharmacy interview tutoring cost?

A single 1-1 mock interview is £125. Packages are Bronze (10 hours, £749), Silver (20 hours, £1,449) and Gold (30 hours, £2,149). You can start with a single mock and add hours later if you land more interviews.

Who will my tutor be?

A handpicked interview expert, matched to your chosen universities. Most often they are current medical or dental students who recently excelled at their own MMI interviews and know the format inside out, and they tailor your pharmacy interview preparation to the specific universities you are applying to. Every tutor is DBS-checked and safeguarding-trained, and the programme is quality-assured by our senior team.

Do you prepare for the numeracy and calculation stations?

Yes. Where your schools include a numeracy or drug calculation station, we drill the method, doses, dilutions, concentrations and unit conversions, so you work accurately and calmly and can explain your reasoning to an examiner.

Do you cover MMI and panel interviews?

Yes. Both are practised in the exact format your universities use, with live-marked mock stations and a written scorecard after each mock. Most UK pharmacy schools now use the MMI format.

What kind of calculation questions come up in a pharmacy interview?

Expect drug dosing, dilutions and concentrations, unit conversions and percentage or ratio calculations, usually without a calculator and against the clock. Pharmacy demands total accuracy, so we drill the method until you can work quickly, show your steps and sense-check the answer.

What are the current hot topics for pharmacy interviews?

Pharmacy First and pharmacists treating common conditions, independent prescribing for newly qualified pharmacists, antimicrobial resistance, medicines shortages and the pressures on community pharmacy, and the profession's growing clinical and public health role. We keep your preparation current with these.

Do I need work experience for a pharmacy interview?

Yes, and interviewers will ask what you learned from it. Reflect on the patient communication, teamwork and safety you observed rather than the tasks you did. If you are also strengthening your written application, our pharmacy personal statement service can help.

Do you make me learn answers off by heart?

No. We never teach scripted, word-for-word answers. Interviewers spot a scripted answer instantly, so we build your thinking and structure until you can answer any question in your own voice.

When should I start?

As soon as you have interview invitations, ideally two to four weeks before your first date. We also take applicants at short notice, and a single mock is a fast way to pressure-test yourself.

How soon after I buy does tutoring start?

Within two days. As soon as you have paid, we ask for a few details about your interviews and target universities, match you to the right expert, and book your first session, usually within two days.

Can the mock be run in my interview's format?

Yes. Your 1-1 mocks can be run MMI, panel or video style, whichever your universities use. It is always one-to-one with your tutor, in the format you will actually face.

What if I do not click with my tutor?

No problem, and no charge. If the fit is not right after your first session, we will re-match you to a different interview expert, no questions asked.

Can I add more hours later?

Yes. Many students start with a smaller package and top up if they land more interviews. Buy another block and we keep you with the same interview expert wherever possible.

Are sessions online or in person?

Every 1-1 session is online, so you can prepare from anywhere in the UK or abroad and in your own time zone. Mock interviews run on video, exactly as most universities now interview.

Can you be too prepared for an interview?

No, but you can be over-scripted, and that is what interviewers penalise. You still need the content cold and a clear structure, but you cannot recite it. We make sure you know the material and can think on your feet with it under pressure, so you come across as prepared and genuine, not robotic.
