UCAT course FAQs
Who teaches the UCAT course?
The course is taught live online by Dr Akash Gandhi MBBS MA (Cantab) DRCOG DGM MRCGP, a practising GP and the founder of TheUKCATPeople, who scored in the top decile of the UCAT himself.
He has more than 13 years of experience teaching the UCAT and has personally helped over a thousand students win places at leading UK medical and dental schools. You learn directly from a doctor, not from a recent graduate or a pre-recorded video.
When is the next course and how much does it cost?
Our next live online course is shown at the top of this page with its date and price. Tickets are £179 and include the full day of live teaching, digital notes, a post-course study plan and ongoing support to your exam.
Courses run every few weeks and often sell out, so book early to secure your place. If you cannot attend on the day, you can transfer to a later date for free.
How long is the course and what is the format?
It is a single intensive day, running from 09:00 to 16:00 UK time live over Zoom. You cover all four UCAT sections through worked examples, live demonstrations and timed practice that mirrors the real test.
The typical timetable is shown on this page, with short breaks and a lunch break built in.
Is a one-day UCAT course enough to prepare properly?
The course is designed to give you a complete strategy for every section in one day: the techniques, timing and approach that top scorers use. Most students find this is the fastest way to turn scattered practice into a clear plan.
You then keep the notes, study plan and ongoing support to practise in the weeks before your exam, so the day sets you up rather than being the whole of your preparation.
How does this compare with Medify, Kaplan, Medic Mind or The Medic Portal?
The biggest difference is that our UCAT course is taught live by a qualified doctor, rather than through pre-recorded videos or a self-paced question bank. You can ask questions in real time and get worked answers on the spot, and the day is taught by the same person start to finish.
Providers like Medify and Kaplan are strong for large question banks, and Medic Mind and The Medic Portal offer courses too, but many families come to us after trying them and switch for this live, doctor-led teaching and the personal feedback that comes with it. Our course pairs well with a question bank: we give you the strategy and timing, then you drill it in the weeks before your exam.
What do I need before and on the day?
No preparation is required beforehand, though it helps to have registered for the UCAT and tried a few practice questions so the strategies land. You will get joining details by email after booking.
On the day you just need a computer with a working camera and microphone, plus pen, paper and a calculator. All notes and materials are provided digitally so you keep them for revision.
Is the course suitable for international students?
Yes. Because the course runs live online in UK time, students from across the UK and around the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and Canada, join easily and receive the same doctor-led teaching and support.
Can my school book a course instead?
Yes. If you are a teacher, head of sixth form or careers lead, we run tailored one-day UCAT courses for whole cohorts, in person at your school or live online. See our schools course page for details, or get in touch for a tailored quote.
