My tutor had sat these interviews recently, so when we talked through euthanasia and cost questions it was real, not textbook. It completely changed my answers.

The right expert for you

Matched to your weaknesses and your chosen schools

Every vet school interviews differently: a panel at one, MMIs at another, ethics scenarios here, values questions there. So a great generic interview tutor is not enough, and we do not leave you to pick one from a list.

After you sign up, you tell us where you are struggling and which universities you are applying to, and we match you to an expert who knows both: someone strong on your weak spots who has coached students through the exact format your chosen vet schools use. The right expert, in the right format, for the right schools, is a big reason our students walk in ready for the interview they will actually sit.

Why us

Practice is the point, and that is why it is one-to-one

You cannot learn to perform under pressure by watching a webinar. Group courses hand you content, but they cannot put you in the chair, ask the hard follow-up and show you exactly where your answer wobbled.

The one thing that moves your score is doing it out loud, again and again, with someone marking you. That is all we do, and we have done it for 14+ years.

  • One-to-one, never a group. Every minute is your practice and your feedback, not shared with a room of applicants on a webinar.
  • Practice, not lectures. We teach the frameworks quickly, then spend the time on live mocks, drilling your answers under pressure until they hold.
  • Built for international applicants. We ground overseas applicants in the NHS, its core values and current hot topics UK interviewers expect you to know.

What you'll face

Every vet school interview station, covered

We prepare you for every format UK vet schools use: MMI, traditional panels and recorded video interviews such as Sammi, whether yours runs online or in person, digging hard into your work experience and understanding of the profession. Every station is covered in focused one-to-one mocks. All our tutoring is online.

Why veterinary medicine

Beyond 'I love animals', a realistic answer built on what your EMS, farm and clinical placements actually showed you.

Work experience depth

Small animal, farm, equine and lambing placements dissected for the insight examiners probe, not a list of hours.

Animal welfare ethics

The Five Freedoms, euthanasia decisions and owners who can't afford treatment, reasoned through calmly.

Current issues in the profession

Antimicrobial resistance, bovine TB, brachycephalic breeds, sustainability and vet wellbeing, discussed even-handedly.

Communication & role-play

Difficult owner conversations and cost or euthanasia discussions. Marked on empathy and clarity, not the perfect answer.

Resilience & the reality

Vet schools test whether you grasp the emotional and financial pressures of the job, and your resilience for them.

How it works

From booking to offer-ready, step by step

Choose a package above or book a free strategy call. As soon as you buy, we ask for a few details about your interviews, match you to the right expert, and get your tutoring started within two days. Practice questions and your guide

Veterinary interview questions we practise

A sample of what we practise, with how strong candidates approach each. The full bank of 200+ questions sits in our Ultimate Vet School Interview Q&A Guide.

Motivation & work experience

  • Why do you want to be a vet?

Move past loving animals to the science, welfare and communication demands you saw first-hand on placement.

  • What did your work experience teach you about the job?

Reflect on the hard realities, euthanasia, cost limits, long hours, and why they haven't put you off.

  • What are the differences between farm and small-animal practice?

Show breadth: herd-level economics and food safety versus individual companion-animal care and owner relationships.

Animal welfare & ethics

  • An owner can't afford the treatment their pet needs. What are the options?

Balance welfare against financial reality, insurance, payment plans, referral, and when euthanasia is the kind choice.

  • Should brachycephalic breeds like pugs be banned?

Weigh welfare harms against owner autonomy and demand; argue both sides before a measured position.

  • What are the Five Freedoms?

Name them and apply them to a real welfare scenario rather than reciting the definition.

Current issues & communication

  • Why is antimicrobial resistance a problem in veterinary medicine?

Link responsible prescribing to the One Health overlap between animal, human and environmental health.

  • Tell an owner their much-loved dog should be put to sleep.

Warn, pause, use silence and check understanding, you're marked on empathy and honesty, not the words.

  • How do you cope with stress?

Give a real strategy with evidence; vet schools ask because the profession's wellbeing pressures are real.

FAQs

Veterinary interview tutoring: your questions

How much does vet school interview tutoring cost?

A single 1-1 mock interview is £125. Packages are Bronze (10 hours, £749), Silver (20 hours, £1,449) and Gold (30 hours, £2,149). All three packages include the £349 Ultimate Interview Q&A Guide free.

Who will my tutor be?

A handpicked interview expert, matched to your chosen universities. Our tutors are high-performing recent applicants and current veterinary students, often at your target schools, selected for their interview track record and trained and quality-assured by our vet programme leads, including Dr Rebecca Massie (MRCVS, RVC). Above all, they are adept at feedback: trained to pinpoint exactly what to fix and to coach both halves of a strong interview, the content of your answers and how you deliver them under pressure.

Do you make me learn answers off by heart?

No. We never teach scripted, word-for-word answers. Interviewers spot a scripted answer instantly, so we build your thinking and structure until you can answer any question in your own voice.

Do you cover MMI and panel interviews?

Yes. Both are practised in the exact format your universities use, the RVC, Nottingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Surrey, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cambridge and others, with live-marked mock stations.

How do you help me talk about my work experience?

This is where most vet applicants lose marks. We turn your placements, small animal, farm, equine, lambing, into reflective answers that show insight into the profession, which is exactly what examiners score.

When should I start?

As soon as you have interview invitations, ideally two to four weeks before your first date. We also take applicants at short notice, and a single mock is a fast way to pressure-test yourself.

Are sessions online?

Yes, all sessions are 1-1 and online, so you can prepare from anywhere in the UK or abroad. Mock interviews run on video exactly as most vet schools now interview.

How successful is your veterinary interview tutoring?

Last year, 98% of our interview students who sat at least one interview received an offer. That is a past result across our interview students, not a guarantee for any individual, but it reflects how much difference marked, university-specific mock practice makes.

How much does veterinary interview tutoring cost in the UK?

At TheUKCATPeople, veterinary interview coaching starts at £125 for a single marked mock interview, with 10, 20 and 30 hour packages for full preparation. Every option is 1-1 and online with an interview expert matched to your chosen universities.

Is TheUKCATPeople a good choice for veterinary interview preparation?

TheUKCATPeople has coached vet school applicants since 2012 and holds a 5.0 rating from 550+ verified Trustpilot reviews. Every student is matched to an interview expert who recently sat the same vet school interviews, practises in each university's exact MMI or panel format, and gets a written scorecard after every mock.

How many mock interviews are included?

There is no fixed cap. Your hours are yours to use, and we run as many full mock interviews as you need within them, each in your universities' exact MMI or panel format with written feedback afterwards. As a rough guide, 10 hours covers several full mocks plus focused coaching, and 20 to 30 hours gives you the repetition most students need for their answers to feel natural. You can always add hours or book extra single mocks later.

Will I have the same tutor throughout?

Yes. You work with the same interview expert throughout your package, so they get to know you, your target universities and exactly what to sharpen. If you have a cluster of interviews in a very short window, we can add a second matched expert so you are never left waiting, but continuity with one tutor is the default.

Will my tutor know my target universities?

Yes. Once you tell us where you have applied, we match you with an interview expert who knows those universities' formats, and every mock is built around the exact stations, question styles and MMI or panel structure each of your universities uses, so nothing on the day is a surprise.

Do I get written feedback after every mock?

Yes. After every mock you get written feedback scored on the same domains examiners use, with your specific strengths and the top fixes to work on before the next one. Lesson summaries are also saved to your online dashboard, which both students and parents can see.

Can I book extra mocks close to my interview dates?

Yes. You can top up hours or book extra single mock interviews at any point, including at short notice as invitations arrive. We schedule around your interview dates, including evenings and weekends, and keep you with the same expert wherever possible.

How soon after I buy does tutoring start?

Within two days. As soon as you have paid, we ask for a few details about your interviews and target universities, match you to the right expert, and book your first session, usually within two days.

Can the mock be run in my interview's format?

Yes. Your 1-1 mocks can be run in MMI, panel or Sammi style, whichever your universities use. It is always one-to-one with your tutor, in the format you will actually face.

Can you be too prepared for an interview?

No, but you can be over-scripted, and that is what interviewers penalise. You still need the content cold: the basics of the course, current NHS and ethics topics, and how to structure an answer. What you cannot do is recite it. We make sure you know the material and can think on your feet with it under pressure, so you come across as prepared and genuine, not robotic.

What if I do not click with my tutor?

No problem, and no charge. If the fit is not right after your first session, we will re-match you to a different interview expert, no questions asked.

Can I add more hours later?

Yes. Many students start with a smaller package and top up if they land more interviews. Buy another block and we keep you with the same interview expert wherever possible.

Are sessions online or in person?

Every 1-1 session is online, so you can prepare from anywhere in the UK or abroad and in your own time zone. Mock interviews run on video, exactly as most universities now interview.

How flexible is scheduling?

We schedule around your interview dates, including evenings and weekends, and move quickly when invitations come at short notice.

What improvement can I expect?

Most students feel far more fluent and calm after a few marked mocks, because we drill the exact domains examiners score. We cannot promise an offer, but structured, marked practice is the single biggest lever you can pull.
