“Harry got my UCAT up to 2,590, working through the sections I kept dropping marks on week by week. Gemma then ran my interview practice so the MMI stations didn't catch me out, and Dr Akash mentored me the whole way through. I'm off to King's for Medicine.”

Worcester graduate entry medicine, 2027 entry
Worcester Graduate Entry Medicine (MBChB, UCAS code A101) is a four-year course at the Three Counties Medical School for graduates with a 1st or 2:1 in any subject (or a 2:2 plus a Masters or doctorate), GCSE Maths and English at C/4, and a UCAT, GAMSAT or MCAT result at the level Worcester requires.
Worcester has no hard cut-off score: the level depends on the spread of that year's applicants. Shortlisted applicants sit the Casper situational judgement test and attend two panel interviews.
Worcester is open to home and international applicants for 2027 entry, and you can apply wherever you live. In its overall assessment it gives preference to applicants with links to Gloucestershire, Herefordshire or Worcestershire, Worcester graduates, first-generation students and applicants working in, or with significant knowledge of, the NHS.
UCAT, GAMSAT or MCAT: Worcester lets you choose
Worcester asks you to pass one of three tests "to a requisite level": the UCAT, the GAMSAT or the US Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). It does not set a hard cut-off, and says the level depends on the shape of the curve of all applicants that year.
| Test | Validity for Worcester |
|---|---|
| UCAT | One year |
| GAMSAT | Two years |
| MCAT | Accepted; Worcester has not published a validity period |
If you have already sat a test, put the result in the Qualifications section of your UCAS form; Worcester says this avoids delays in processing and shortlisting. If you are weighing up which test to sit, our GAMSAT guide and UCAT tutoring pages explain what each involves.

Any degree, from anywhere, with preference for six kinds of applicant
You can hold, or expect to achieve in the year you apply, a 1st or 2:1 honours degree in any subject; a 2:2 is accepted with a Masters or doctoral degree. If your degree is not in a science subject, you also need two science GCSEs at C/4 or above (maths does not count as a science). You must not have started a medical degree before, in the UK or overseas.
Worcester applies no residency rule, but its "overall holistic assessment" gives preference to applicants who meet one or more of these criteria:
- substantial geographical links to the Three Counties, such as a childhood parental address or a current address in a Three Counties postcode
- a Worcester graduate
- first in your family to go to university
- currently living in a POLAR quintile 1 or 2 area
- working in, or with significant knowledge of, the NHS
- refugee status
The medical school's admissions page explains the thinking: it aims to recruit mainly from groups under-represented in medicine, to encourage local applicants because the region finds it hard to recruit and retain doctors, and to take graduates from disciplines such as behavioural and social sciences, humanities and psychology.
No degree yet?
Worcester says that students on its Biomedical Science BSc who meet the entry requirements when they graduate are guaranteed a Medicine interview.

After shortlisting: the Casper test and two panel interviews
- 1
Apply through UCAS
Home applicants apply by 15 October 2026. Worcester does not take direct applications.
- 2
Shortlisting
Worcester does not publish a scoring scheme for shortlisting. Its preference criteria apply within what it calls an "overall holistic assessment".
- 3
Casper
Only shortlisted applicants sit Casper, and Worcester tells you after you apply whether you are eligible. Casper is run by Altus, which sets the date.
- 4
Two panel interviews
Shortlisted applicants also attend two panel interviews. Worcester does not say on its course page whether these are in person or online.
- 5
Offer conditions
Final acceptance depends on a satisfactory DBS check (or international equivalent) and an occupational health assessment.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Format | Online situational judgement test in two sections: video responses and typed responses |
| Scenarios | 11 |
| Timing | One minute to record each video response; 3.5 minutes to type answers to both questions in a typed scenario |
| Total length | Typically 65 to 85 minutes |
| Reusing an old result | Possibly, if you sat an England-specific Casper in the same cycle; Altus advises on distributing it |
If you are ill on your Casper or interview date, Worcester asks you to contact it as soon as possible. It may be able to move an interview, but it has no control over Casper dates once Altus has set them. For the panel interviews themselves, interview coaching is available.

Problem-based learning across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire
Teaching uses problem-based learning in small groups facilitated by practising doctors, on a spiral curriculum that returns to topics in more depth each year. Your progress is logged in an e-portfolio against the GMC's Outcomes for Graduates.
| Phase | Years | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 1 and 2 | Mostly on campus in a PBL group, plus 15 weeks in hospitals and one day every three weeks in general practice (four weeks in total) |
| Phase 2 | 3 | Full time in clinical areas in the community, in both primary and secondary care |
| Phase 2 | 4 | Secondary care in acute hospitals, with an elective opportunity |
Placements can be anywhere in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Timetabled teaching is up to 24 hours a week, plus 4 to 8 hours of timetabled self-directed study; on placement you attend core hours of 9am to 5pm, with some out-of-hours and on-call work.

A new school under GMC accreditation, with Swansea as its contingency
Like every new medical school, Worcester's MBChB is going through GMC accreditation, which is not finalised until the first cohort is about to graduate. If the process were halted or delayed, Worcester's contingency school is Swansea University Medical School, which would let enrolled students complete their studies and receive a UK primary medical qualification.
| Fee status | Fee |
|---|---|
| Home | £10,050 in 2027/28 |
| International and EU | £49,300 a year for 2027/28 |
Worcester has not yet confirmed the 2027/28 financial support amounts. For 2026/27, home students paid the first £3,665 of the year 1 fee themselves and could borrow the rest, and in years 2 to 4 the NHS paid part of the fee and offered a £1,081 grant and a means-tested bursary. International applicants need IELTS 7.0 (7 in speaking, at least 6.5 elsewhere) or equivalent, and should check that a Worcester MBChB meets the rules of the country where they plan to work.
