The short answer

St George's graduate entry medicine, 2027 entry

St George's graduate entry medicine is the four-year MBBS (UCAS code A101) at City St George's, University of London, and you need a 2:1 honours degree in any subject (or a 2:2 plus a postgraduate degree), a GAMSAT score of at least 50 in every section plus an overall score that meets that year's cut-off, and eligibility for home fees.

St George's ranks every eligible applicant by GAMSAT and invites the highest scorers to a multiple mini interview (MMI). For the 2027 cycle it accepts GAMSAT results from March 2025, September 2025, March 2026 and September 2026, and uses your highest eligible score.

The university's statistics page lists 71 places for 2025/6 entry, 584 standard-entry applicants and 245 standard-entry interviews in that cycle, and an overall GAMSAT cut-off of 56 in the cycle it labels 2026. The home fee for 2027/28 is £10,050.

Eligibility

Any degree subject, with a five-year recency rule

City St George's describes A101 as open to graduates from a wide range of science and non-science backgrounds. The subject rule reads any discipline and any subject, and graduates do not need to meet any GCSE or A level requirement.

The test

The GAMSAT rule: 50 in every section, then a cut-off set each year

St George's sets two GAMSAT conditions, and you must meet both: a minimum of 50 in each section, and a minimum overall score that it sets every year from the scores it receives. It does not consider extenuating circumstances for GAMSAT, and it accepts only scores sent directly by ACER.

The university says it is not possible to predict a threshold for any year from earlier data, and that it publishes the cut-off during the cycle once all interview invitations have gone out. Our GAMSAT guide explains the three sections and how they are scored.

Competition

Applications, interviews and offers for St George's A101, 2021/2 to 2025/6

St George's publishes its graduate entry figures each December for the cycle just finished. The standard-entry figures below exclude the small number of deferred-entry applicants shown separately on the university's page.

Applicant numbers fell by almost half between 2022/3 and 2025/6, while interviews stayed between 245 and 275 a year, so in the latest published cycle roughly two in five standard-entry applicants were interviewed.

Interview

The MMI at Tooting: six stations, one score for both medicine courses

Everyone who meets the entry requirements and the GAMSAT cut-off is invited to a multiple mini interview, which City St George's says will usually be in person. For the 2026 entry cycle, A101 interviews ran from 9 to 16 February 2026, in person at the Tooting campus or online. Dates for the 2027 cycle have not been published.

The details below describe the 2026 entry cycle. City St George's says some of this information may change for the 2027 cycle.

  • Six stations of about five minutes each, with a 60-second break between them. Each station is marked independently by a different interviewer.
  • A station may be a question, a practical task or a role play, such as managing a challenging situation, and you get a written copy of the task.
  • The MMI assesses communication, empathy, ethical reasoning, problem solving and motivation for medicine.
  • You book your slot through the Applicant Portal link in your invitation, and must submit the online Internal Disclosures Form before the interview. Expect about three hours on campus, with a course presentation and Q&A afterwards.
  • The online version runs on SAMMI-Select: six pre-recorded questions answered on camera, with AI-detection software. Using AI tools is prohibited.

Applying to both A100 and A101

If you qualify for interview on both the five-year and graduate entry courses, you interview once and the same score is used for both programmes.

Decisions are made only after all interviews for the programme are finished. In the 2026 entry cycle, applicants who met the 15 October 2025 deadline and were interviewed received outcomes by the UCAS deadline of 13 May 2026. Timed MMI mock interviews are one way to get used to the five-minute format.

Another route

Graduates can also apply to St George's five-year A100 with UCAT

The five-year MBBS at St George's accepts graduates as well, using the UCAT instead of GAMSAT. The university caps graduates at approximately 25% of that cohort (a figure it says was accurate for the 2021 to 2025 cycles) and ranks graduate applicants separately to set their UCAT cut-off.

For 2025/6 entry, 40 home graduates enrolled on A100 through standard entry. A graduate who is stronger at UCAT than at GAMSAT could use one of their four medicine choices on each course.

The course

Two years of content in the clinical science year, then the transition year

  • Year 1, the clinical science year: seven modules cover the first two years of knowledge from the five-year course, through lectures, tutorials and group work, with early GP and community visits.
  • Year 2, the transition year: problem-based learning and student selected components alongside five-week clinical blocks in medicine, surgery and general practice.
  • Year 3: attachments across medicine, senior health, cardiology, surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and paediatrics.
  • Year 4: five-week assistantships in medicine, surgery and general practice, then critical care, emergency medicine and public health, and a five-week elective after finals.

The Tooting campus shares its site with St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Home students on the course can apply to the NHS Learning Support Fund, which City St George's describes as non-repayable grants of at least £5,000 a year for eligible healthcare students.

FAQs

St George's graduate entry medicine: common questions

What GAMSAT score do you need for St George's graduate entry medicine?

You need at least 50 in each GAMSAT section and an overall score that meets a cut-off St George's sets each year from the scores it receives.

Its statistics page gives the overall score required as 56 in the cycle it labels 2026, 54 in 2025 and 56 in 2024. The university says past thresholds cannot predict future ones.

Does St George's accept any degree for graduate entry medicine?

Yes. The requirement is a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline and any subject, or a 2:2 plus a UK postgraduate degree at Pass.

Your degree should have been awarded no earlier than summer 2022; if it is older, you need one recent qualification such as an A level at grade B awarded between summer 2022 and summer 2027.

Can I apply to St George's GEM with a 2:2?

Yes, if you also hold a UK postgraduate degree (such as an MA, MSc, MPhil or PhD) at Pass. The postgraduate degree must be fully awarded by 31 July of the year you apply.

How many places are there on St George's graduate entry medicine?

St George's lists 71 places for 2025/6 entry and 70 for each of the four years before. It has not published a figure for 2027 entry.

When are St George's graduate entry interviews?

St George's has not published dates for the 2027 cycle. For 2026 entry, graduate entry MMIs ran from 9 to 16 February 2026, in person at Tooting or online.

In the 2026 entry cycle, each MMI had six stations of about five minutes, with a 60-second break between stations.

Can international students apply to St George's A101?

No. You must be eligible for home tuition fees. The university's statistics page notes that the four-year programme is open to home fee-paying graduates only.

Does St George's accept the UCAT for graduate entry medicine?

Not for A101, which is GAMSAT only: all eligible applicants are ranked by GAMSAT score and the highest scorers are invited to interview.

The UCAT is used on the five-year A100 course, which also accepts graduates and ranks them separately.
