Free: the UCAT 2027 Plan (PDF)
Month by month from January to your test, for 2028 entry: key dates, section strategies and a mock review log.
The UCAT Consortium publishes its own practice material free on the UCAT website. It comes in four parts, designed to be used in order. The question banks are the third part and the one you will spend most time in, but there are not many of them, so plan how you use them.
Resource | What you get | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
Tour Tutorial | How the test screens work: the calculator, flag and review, and the keyboard shortcuts | Before anything else |
Question Tutorials | Strategy and worked examples for each question type | The start of your preparation |
Question banks | 15 banks: 4 Verbal Reasoning, 4 Decision Making, 4 Quantitative Reasoning, 3 Situational Judgement, each with an Explain Answer button | Learning each subtest |
Practice tests | 4 full tests (A to D), each in standard timing, 25% extra time and untimed versions | The final weeks, under timed conditions |
UCAT does not publish how many questions sit in each bank, so treat any exact total you see quoted elsewhere with caution. There is no Abstract Reasoning bank: Abstract Reasoning was removed from the test in 2025, so any AR practice you come across is out of date.
There are four, labelled A to D. Each one appears in three versions: standard timing, 25% extra time for candidates with access arrangements, and an untimed version for candidates who will sit the test with rest breaks. That makes twelve links on the UCAT page, but only four different papers.
If you are entitled to extra time, use the matching version so your practice reflects your real test. Our UCAT access arrangements guide explains who qualifies and how to apply.
To turn your raw marks from a practice test into a scaled score out of 2700, use our free UCAT score calculator, then compare the result with the final 2026 UCAT deciles.
Aiming for a top-decile UCAT score?
UCAT recommends working from the tutorials to the banks and finishing with the timed tests. In practice that looks like this:
If you are in Year 12, start gently from January with the tutorials and a few bank questions alongside schoolwork, and build up through the spring. Our UCAT timings guide shows how many seconds you have per question in each section, which is the pace to work towards.

The full list of shortcuts, including the zoom keys and the calculator rules, is in our UCAT keyboard shortcuts guide, and the UCAT noteboard guide covers what to write down and what to leave in your head.
From diagnostic to test day: a structured plan with 1-1 expert support at every stage.
The official material is the closest match to the real test, because it is written by the people who write the real test. UCAT describes its practice tests as representative of the live test, which makes them your most reliable benchmark. Its weakness is volume.
If you are preparing over several months, a sensible split is the official banks to learn the style, a larger question bank for the bulk of your practice, and the four official papers as checkpoints at the end. Whichever bank you add, keep coming back to the official questions: if a larger bank feels much easier or much harder, the official material is the one to trust.
Our free UCAT skills trainer adds timed drills for mental maths and the on-screen calculator. If you want someone to read your practice test results with you and set the next three weeks of work, 1-to-1 UCAT tutoring can do that with you.
Redoing the question banks after a few weeks is fine for practising method, because you are rehearsing the approach rather than recalling the answer. Redoing a practice test is different: you will remember enough answers to inflate your score, so it no longer tells you where you stand. Keep at least one paper unseen for the final week.
Key Takeaway: The official UCAT question bank is free, closest to the real test and limited in size. Learn the software with the Tour Tutorial, use the 15 banks to learn each question type, keep your own record because nothing is saved, and save the four practice tests for the last three to four weeks.
Yes. The question banks, the tutorials and the four practice tests are all free on the UCAT website. You do not need to have booked your test to use them.
UCAT does not publish a total. The material is split into 15 banks: four for Verbal Reasoning, four for Decision Making, four for Quantitative Reasoning and three for the Situational Judgement Test, plus four full practice tests.
Four, labelled A to D. Each is available in standard timing, with 25% extra time, and untimed for candidates who will have rest breaks, so there are twelve links but only four different papers.
No. The review screen marks each answer correct or incorrect, but no scaled score is given and nothing is saved. Count your marks per section and convert them with a UCAT score calculator to estimate your score out of 2700.
No. Abstract Reasoning was removed from the UCAT in 2025, so the official banks cover Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and the Situational Judgement Test only.
UCAT designs the questions to be viewed on a desktop computer rather than a phone, because that is how the live test appears. Practise on a computer with a keyboard so you can use the shortcuts and the on-screen calculator as you will on the day.
In the last three to four weeks before your test date, one at a time, in a single sitting with full timing. Use the question banks before that, and keep at least one paper unseen for the final week.
UCAT describes them as representative of the live test, which makes them the most reliable benchmark available. If another question bank feels much easier or harder, trust the official material.

Ultimate Package students from our 2025/26 cycle, with their UCAT scores and offers, who trained with us for the UCAT, personal statements and interviews.
“Harry got my UCAT up to 2,590, working through the sections I kept dropping marks on week by week. Gemma then ran my interview practice so the MMI stations didn't catch me out, and Dr Akash mentored me the whole way through. I'm off to King's for Medicine.”
“The interview prep was the part that actually moved the needle. Proper mock MMIs, not just lists of questions, and feedback that was honest about what I was getting wrong. I ended up with four offers and firmed UCL.”
“The Ultimate Package kept me organised from UCAT through to interviews. They knew what dental schools actually ask and tightened up my personal statement. Four offers in the end, and I'm going to Birmingham.”
“Vet applications come down to the written SAQs as much as the interview. Dr Rebecca went through my SAQs line by line, sharpened my answers and prepped me for the panels. I came away with four offers and chose the RVC.”
