UKCAT Questions & Practice Tests 2026

Everything you need to know about choosing the best UCAT resources and UCAT questions for your practice.

UCAT Mocks & UCAT Mock Tests
The official UCAT website has four full UCAT mock tests - we recommend saving these until closer to your exam when you feel confident enough to replicate timed conditions.
There are further official UCAT mock tests (in untimed conditions) on their website, where you can practise untimed questions across all four UCAT subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and the Situational Judgement Test. (Abstract Reasoning was removed for 2025 entry onwards, so it no longer appears in any current mock.) These untimed mocks are ideal early in your preparation, before you move on to full timed papers.
UCAT Past Papers
There are no official UCAT past papers - be wary of anyone claiming to have them! Instead, the official UCAT mock exams are the only resource that replicates the standard of your actual UCAT exam.
These mock exams are best saved for the last few weeks of your revision. Afterwards, go back through every question you got wrong, understand why, and log your mistakes so you can target your weak subtests. This reflective approach (reviewing corrections rather than just racking up question count) is what actually moves your UCAT score.
You can find ucat example questions on each of the subsection pages, these ukcat practice questions give you a flavour of what to expect in your exam.
For daily, exam-style drilling between mocks, use our free UCAT trainer and online question bank, which lets you practise timed questions by subtest and track your scores. Pair it with the subtest deep-dives in our UCAT Guides revision hub for worked techniques on each question type.
Remember, joining us on our UCAT courses will help you practise every type of UCAT question, where you can learn the best techniques and tips to tackle them. We go through example questions before you get to practice it, and receive help from a UCAT expert in case you have any issues.
To access content that is most like the actual exam, and therefore, UCAT past papers - we recommend using the official UCAT mocks/UCAT practice questions on their website.

UCAT Practice Questions & Practice Papers
On the official UCAT website you will find free UCAT practice tests and a UCAT question bank covering all four current subtests (Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and the Situational Judgement Test). Note there is no separate Abstract Reasoning bank: that subtest was removed from the UCAT for 2025 entry onwards.
These are free ucat questions which you can do in either timed or untimed conditions.
These free UCAT sample questions are the most realistic resource available and closely replicate the style, difficulty and on-screen format of the real UCAT, which is why we always recommend starting and finishing your prep with the official material.
There are some free UCAT questions that you can find online with ucat practice tests for free. Have a look at our friends at PassMedicine for their excellent UKCAT practice question bank.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I find free UCAT practice questions?
The best free UCAT practice questions are the official mock tests and question bank on the UCAT Consortium website, which cover all four subtests in timed and untimed modes. You can also use our free UCAT trainer for unlimited exam-style drilling, and find example questions on each subtest page of this guide.
Are there official UCAT past papers?
No. There are no official UCAT past papers, and you should be wary of anyone selling them. The UCAT changes year to year, so the closest equivalent is the official UCAT mock exams on the Consortium website. These replicate the real exam's standard, format and on-screen tools more accurately than any past paper could.
How many official UCAT mock tests are there?
The official UCAT website provides several full mock tests, including timed mocks that mirror real exam conditions and additional untimed practice. Save the timed mocks until the last few weeks before your test, when you are confident enough to sit them under realistic pressure and review your mistakes properly.
Is there a free UCAT practice test with a score?
Yes. The official UCAT mock tests give you a scaled-style result, and our free UCAT trainer scores your practice as you go. To convert raw marks into the official scaled range, use our UCAT score calculator, which maps your performance onto the 1200 to 2700 scale used by the three cognitive subtests.
Is there a free UCAT question bank?
Yes. The official UCAT Consortium question bank is free and is the most realistic resource available. Our free UCAT trainer also offers an online question bank you can use for everyday practice. Reputable third parties such as PassMedicine offer additional banks, but always anchor your preparation in the official questions.
How many subtests does the UCAT have in 2026?
The UCAT has four subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and the Situational Judgement Test. Abstract Reasoning was removed for 2025 entry onwards. The three cognitive subtests are each scored from 300 to 900 (a total out of 2700), while the SJT is reported in bands 1 to 4.
Does the UCAT still have Abstract Reasoning practice questions?
No. Abstract Reasoning was removed from the UCAT for 2025 entry onwards, so it no longer appears in the official mocks or question bank. If you find practice materials that still include Abstract Reasoning, they are out of date. Focus your practice on the four current subtests instead.
Are there UCAT practice questions in PDF format?
The UCAT is a computer-based test, so the most useful practice is on-screen rather than PDF, which is why the official mocks are delivered online. PDFs can be handy for revising techniques away from a screen, but always do your timed practice on-screen (using the official mocks or our UCAT trainer) so you get used to the real interface.
How should I use UCAT practice questions effectively?
Start with untimed questions to learn each question type, then move to timed practice as your test nears. Save the official timed mocks for the final few weeks. Most importantly, review every mistake and log why you got it wrong: reflective practice on your weak subtests improves your score far more than simply doing more questions.
When should I start doing UCAT practice questions?
Begin with technique-focused, untimed questions around six to eight weeks before your test, then build up to full timed mocks in the final two to three weeks. Our free UCAT trainer is ideal for daily practice throughout, and our preparation guide sets out a week-by-week timetable to keep your revision on track.
What is the best free UCAT practice resource?
The official UCAT mock tests and question bank are the best free resource because they replicate the real exam most closely. Combine them with our free UCAT trainer for extra timed drilling and the subtest guides in our UCAT Guides hub for techniques. This mix gives you realism plus volume without paying for past papers that do not exist.
Do UCAT practice questions and answers come with explanations?
The official UCAT mocks include answers and worked explanations, which is where most of the learning happens. Our UCAT trainer also provides answers as you practise. Always read the explanation for every question, right or wrong, so you understand the reasoning and technique rather than just memorising the correct option.
How many UCAT practice questions should I do before the exam?
There is no fixed number, and quality beats quantity. Most strong candidates work through the official question bank, all the official mocks, and several hundred extra questions on a trainer, while reviewing every mistake. Stop adding raw volume once your technique and timing are solid; the official mocks remain the best gauge of readiness.
Can I retake the UCAT if my practice scores are low?
You can only sit the UCAT once per cycle, so there is no resit within the same admissions year, but you can retake it in a future cycle if you reapply. If your practice scores are low, focus your remaining time on technique and your weakest subtest, and consider where to apply with a lower score rather than rushing the exam.
