US federal loans: UCC holds a US Federal School Code (G06704), but its own federal-aid guidance has stated that medical programmes are excluded from federal loan eligibility in recent years. Treat US federal loans for medicine as something to confirm in writing with UCC before you rely on them, and plan for private loans.

UCC graduates sit the USMLE and gain ECFMG certification for the US residency match, and the curriculum includes a dedicated 'Preparing for USMLE Step 1' teaching strand with question banks and mock exams, which is unusual among Irish schools and helps North American students who want to match back home.
Canadian graduates return through CaRMS after the MCCQE Part I and the NAC OSCE. Many North American students apply to both the Canadian and US matches in parallel to maximise their options.
