Medicine and dentistry interview courses for schools

The day is built for a whole cohort. A rotating MMI circuit works well from around 8 students up to a full year group of applicants, because the circuit simply runs more rounds or splits into parallel loops. Small sixth forms with a handful of applicants are welcome too; we compress the circuit rather than cancel it.

Larger cohorts need more interviewers, so tell us your numbers when you enquire and we will bring the right number of doctors and dentists. Pricing is per cohort in tiers by size, not per pupil, so bigger groups cost less per student.

For a full circuit we need one main teaching space for the taught blocks and then several small rooms, or one large hall that can be partitioned, so stations run side by side without students overhearing each other. Six to eight stations is typical. A table and two chairs per station is genuinely all the furniture required.

We bring the station briefs, candidate door cards, timing and every marking sheet. You provide the rooms, a screen or projector for the morning, and a member of staff who knows where everything is. If your site cannot give us that many rooms, we run the identical day live online in breakout rooms instead.

September to November is the sweet spot. UCAS applications for medicine, dentistry and veterinary close in mid-October, and most invitations land between late October and January, so a day in the autumn term gives your applicants time to act on the feedback before their first real interview.

Some schools prefer a second, shorter session in December or January once invitations are in hand, targeted at the specific universities their students are facing. Both work; autumn dates fill first, so get in touch as soon as you know your applicant numbers.

Very little, deliberately. Students should bring their personal statement, a rough list of the universities they have applied to, and their work experience notes, because several stations draw on all three. They do not need to have revised anything: the point of the day is to find the gaps, not to test preparation.

They are designed to be used in that order. Our free mock interview day pack is a printable set of MMI stations with marking grids and interviewer briefings, so your own staff and sixth form volunteers can run a first practice circuit without us. Many careers leads run that in September to get students used to the format.

The paid day is the rehearsal that follows: clinicians who interview for real, marking against the domains examiners use, with ethics and NHS hot-topic teaching your staff cannot reasonably keep current. Run your own first, then bring us in for the real rehearsal. Everything else we publish for careers leads is free at our teacher resources.

Medicine and dentistry run together as standard, taught by a doctor and a dentist, with subject-specific stations for each. Dental applicants get manual dexterity, GDC guidance and dentistry ethics rather than a watered-down version of the medicine content.

Veterinary can be added on request. Vet cohorts are usually smaller, so we normally fold them into the same day with their own animal welfare and practice-based stations rather than running a separate course. Mention your vet applicants when you enquire.

School courses are priced per cohort in tiers based on how many students attend, not per pupil, so larger groups get better value. The exact cost depends on your group size, your date and whether the day runs in person or live online, since an in-person day carries travel and a larger interviewing team.

We do not staff school days with recent graduates or current students, and nothing on the day is pre-recorded. The number of interviewers scales with your cohort so the circuit keeps moving.
