“The mock interviews felt incredibly realistic and the feedback afterwards was always constructive. By the time my real interviews came around I actually felt excited rather than nervous.”
Dentistry mock interviews: 1-1 MMI and panel practice
A dentistry mock interview with TheUKCATPeople is a one-hour 1-1 online session with a dentistry interview expert: a 30-minute mock in your universities' format, MMI or panel with 4 to 6 minute stations, followed by around 30 minutes of detailed feedback and a plan of what to work on next. One mock costs £125, and mocks are usually arranged within 24 hours. Last year, 98% of our students who completed 20 or more hours of interview tutoring and sat at least one interview received an offer: 100 of 102.
Every mock is tailored to the dental schools you have applied to, so you rehearse their stations rather than generic ones. If you want to read the question types first, our dental school practice interview questions are free.

Every dental school station, in your format
Your mock is built from the stations UK dental schools actually use. We cover the multiple mini interview (MMI), traditional panels and recorded video interviews such as Sammi, and several dental schools add a manual dexterity task.
Why dentistry, not medicine
The question that catches most candidates out. We build an honest, specific answer rooted in what you saw on dental work experience.
Manual dexterity
Wire-bending, carving and instruction-following stations. We practise working calmly and precisely while talking an examiner through it.
Ethics and consent
Cosmetic requests, treating anxious or paediatric patients, and consent applied through the four pillars under time pressure.
NHS dental hot topics
The access crisis, contract reform, water fluoridation and the NHS-versus-private debate, argued even-handedly.
Communication and role-play
Explaining a diagnosis to an actor or handling a complaint. Marked on empathy, clarity and listening, not the perfect script.
Panel and follow-up
Deeper questioning on your personal statement, teamwork and understanding of a dentist's day-to-day role.
Looking for a dentistry MMI circuit?
People searching for a dentistry MMI circuit are usually picturing a group event where applicants rotate around a room of stations. We do not run group circuits, and it is worth being straight about that before you book anything.
What we run instead is station-by-station mock MMI practice, 1-1 and online. Your interview expert takes each station in turn, in the format your dental schools use with 4 to 6 minute stations, and marks you on it. You get the same rehearsal of moving between station types, and every minute of the hour is your practice and your feedback rather than shared with a room of other applicants.
If you want to cover a full spread of station types, most students book more than one mock, or take a package of coaching hours and run repeated mocks inside it.
Free question banks before you book
Want to practise free first? Our written question banks are open to everyone, with model approaches rather than scripts to memorise. Work through them, then book a mock to test whether your answers hold up out loud.
Dentistry mock interviews: your questions
How much does a dentistry mock interview cost?
A single 1-1 dentistry mock interview is £125. That buys one hour in total: an approx 30-minute mock in your dental schools' format, then around 30 minutes of detailed feedback with a plan of what to work on. There is nothing else to pay, and you can book as many separate mocks as you want.
Do you run a dentistry MMI circuit?
We do not run group MMI circuits. Your MMI practice is delivered station by station, 1-1 and online, in the format your dental schools use with 4 to 6 minute stations, and each station is marked. That gives you the same station-by-station rehearsal with every minute of the session spent on your own practice and feedback.
Is the mock an MMI or a panel interview?
Whichever you are facing. Your mock can be run MMI style with 4 to 6 minute stations, as a traditional panel, or in Sammi style, and it is tailored to the dental schools you have applied to. If your universities use different formats, book a mock for each one.
Can you practise manual dexterity stations?
Yes. Several dental schools add a manual dexterity task such as wire-bending, carving or following a set of instructions, and it is one of the stations we practise: working calmly and precisely while talking an examiner through what you are doing. Examiners watch your process, not your speed.
How does the feedback work?
Feedback is delivered live in the second half of the session, around 30 minutes of it, so you hear exactly where an answer wobbled while it is still fresh. You are scored on the same domains examiners use, and you finish with your specific strengths, your top fixes and a plan of what to work on before the real thing.
Lesson summaries are also saved to your online dashboard, which both students and parents can see.
How soon before my interview should I book a mock?
Mocks are usually arranged within 24 hours, and we schedule around your interview dates including evenings and weekends, so a mock in the few days before your interview is entirely possible. Earlier is still better: booking one as soon as your invitation lands leaves time to act on the feedback and sit another.
Are mock interviews online or in person?
Every mock is online, on video, exactly as most universities now interview. You can prepare from anywhere in the UK or abroad and in your own time zone.
Who runs the mock interview?
A handpicked dentistry interview expert, often a current dental student at one of your target universities, matched to the dental schools you have applied to and chosen for their track record. Every expert holds an enhanced DBS check and is briefed on our safeguarding policy.
