Instalment Payment Terms

Last updated 12/09/2026

1. What These Terms Cover

These terms apply when you pay for any TheUKCATPeople programme, package or service using a pay-by-instalments option, whether you choose it at checkout on our website or in a payment link we send you. They supplement our Product Terms and Conditions and Lesson Cancellation Policy. Where anything in these terms conflicts with those documents, these terms apply to your instalment purchase. By selecting the instalment option and confirming your agreement at checkout, you accept these terms.

2. Who Can Pay by Instalments

You must be 18 or over and be the holder of the payment card used, or have the cardholder's authority to use it. If you are buying for a student under 18, you enter this agreement as the purchaser and you are responsible for every payment under it. Paying by instalments is offered at our discretion. We may withdraw the option for future purchases at any time, which does not affect a plan already in place.

3. The Payment Plan

The total price is the price shown at checkout, split into the number of equal monthly payments shown at checkout (usually three). The first payment is taken at checkout. Each further payment is collected automatically from your saved payment card on the same date of each following month, or on the last day of the month where a shorter month has no matching date. For example, if your first payment is made on 25th February under a three-payment plan, the remaining payments are collected on 25th March and 25th April.

Where the total does not divide exactly, each payment is rounded down to the nearest penny, so the total collected never exceeds the price shown. No more than the stated number of payments will ever be taken, and the plan ends automatically once the final payment has been collected. We do not charge interest or any fee for paying by instalments.

4. One Purchase, One Balance

Paying by instalments is a payment schedule for a single purchase. It is not a rolling subscription and it is not a series of separate purchases. Your tutor is allocated, your mentoring is set up and your resources are unlocked in full from your first payment, so the full price becomes payable once the programme has begun. Stopping payment, cancelling your card or asking your bank to block a payment does not cancel this agreement and does not reduce what you owe. Your statutory rights are unaffected, and any right to cancel or to a refund is as set out in our Product Terms and Conditions.

5. Cancelling Within 14 Days

If you cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period described in our Product Terms and Conditions, we will stop the remaining payments. Any refund due is calculated under those terms on the full price, and any amount you have not yet paid is deducted from it. If the value of the services already provided is more than you have paid, the difference remains payable.

6. Keeping Your Payment Details Up to Date

You must keep a valid payment card saved with us until your final payment has been collected. If your card expires, is replaced or is cancelled, you must update your details before the next payment date using the link in your payment emails, or by contacting us. If a scheduled payment fails, we and our payment provider may retry your card on dates other than the scheduled date until the payment succeeds.

7. Missed Payments: Immediate Suspension

If a payment cannot be collected on its due date, all programme services are suspended immediately. This includes tutoring sessions, mentoring, marking, reviews and access to online resources. Any session booked for a date during the suspension does not go ahead. Where that session falls inside the notice period in our Lesson Cancellation Policy, it is charged as a late cancellation, because the tutor's time has already been reserved. The suspension does not extend your programme's validity period or any deadline within it, and time lost during a suspension is not added back.

Our payment provider will retry your card automatically and email you a link to update your payment details. Services resume as soon as the overdue payment is received and you have contacted us to rebook.

8. Payments 14 Days Overdue: Full Balance Due

If any payment remains unpaid 14 days after its due date, the whole of the outstanding balance of the price becomes immediately due in a single sum. We will email you notice of the amount, and you authorise us to collect the whole outstanding balance from your saved payment card, in one or more charges, at any time after that notice. Interest accrues on any overdue amount at 4% a year above the Bank of England base rate from the due date until payment, calculated daily.

9. Termination and Recovery

If the outstanding balance cannot be collected, we may terminate this agreement and withdraw access to the programme permanently. Termination does not cancel what you already owe for the value of the programme provided to you up to that point.

On termination, the amount you owe is the value of what has been provided. This is made up of the cost of allocating and setting up your mentor and programme, which we incur in full at the start; any digital resources or guides you have accessed; and every tutoring or mentoring session that has been delivered, or that was reserved within the notice period in our Lesson Cancellation Policy. Interest continues to accrue on that amount as set out in section 8.

Payments you have already made are set against that amount first. Where they do not cover it, the shortfall remains payable as a debt. Tutoring hours that have not been delivered, and were not reserved within that notice period, are credited against what you owe.

We may pass any remaining debt to a collection agency or bring court proceedings, and you will be liable for our reasonable costs of recovery. We may refuse further purchases until the balance is settled.

10. Chargebacks

Asking your bank to reverse a payment that was correctly collected under this agreement does not remove your liability for it. If a chargeback is raised, services are suspended while it is investigated. If the chargeback is unsuccessful, the disputed amount and any dispute fee charged to us by our payment provider become payable immediately.

11. Contact

If you are having difficulty making a payment, contact us as early as possible at info@theukcatpeople.co.uk. If you tell us before a payment is due, we will do what we can to agree a way forward before any of the steps above are taken.
